Happy 1st Anniversary to Sophie and Jamie who got married on 10th April 2017 at Healey Barn, Northumberland.
I can’t believe it’s been a whole year since their wedding but it’s been so great to look back through their wedding photographs to make this blog post. Hopefully it will bring back so many memories for you too Sophie and Jamie!!
Sophie got ready at her parents’ home with all the family around her.
Jamie is a MASSIVE Star Wars fan and there were already going to be a few Star Wars references in the wedding but Sophie arranged for a surprise for him when he got to Healey Barn. Darth Vader and two Stormtroopers were present courtesy of The 99th Garrison. Now it’s usually the bride who gets the big grand entrance to a wedding ceremony so I thought it would be cool if Jamie got a bit of the spotlight before Sophie arrived and got marched up the aisle with an Imperial escort!
Sophie was so eager to marry Jamie that when the registrar asked “Sophie do you take Jamie…” Sophie cut her off and said “I DO!” straight away. It produced a lot of laughter from everyone in the barn!
The lights on the beams of Healey Barn make for great bokeh in the background!
We grabbed a group shot with Darth and the ‘Troopers just as it started to rain so we all moved back into the barn and I set up some studio lights to do the formals.
Sophie and Jamie were dead set on having a Wedding Wall from the moment they saw the very first one I did in 2015. This was great fun to do at this wedding as all the guests were such good sports. We had some hilarious poses, along with a few x-rated outtakes!!!
The tables were named after famous places from the Star Wars universe. Some lovely bunting added some colour to the dining area.
The rain stopped and we nipped out into the woods for some photos just before the first dance. Music was provided by the brilliant Andy Usher Music. Andy is great, I’m always pleased to see him setting up as I know the dance floor will be full of action and I get access to a free gig pharmaciepourhomme.fr!
I LOVE doing some dramatic portraits of the wedding party, either as a group or as two groups. I think there’s a reason you picked these people to be your bridesmaids/groomsmen and therefore you should have a photo different to the other family formals. They’re great fun to do and a nice way for the wedding party to have some fun together away from the guests.
Sophie is a jeweler living and working on Shetland for Shetland Jewelry and she designed and made her own wedding ring! Seriously, how cool is that!? If you’d like Sophie to design your wedding rings or engagement ring then get in touch with them, she is such a talented individual!
I knew how much Sophie and Jamie liked my night time photography and star photography as they’d both followed me on instagram for quite a few years and I couldn’t resist not to include a Death Star in their astro photo!
We turned up to Sophie and Jamie’s wedding as vendors but we certainly left as friends and we have enjoyed the friendship for a year now and looking forward to many more years to come. Sophie should work for the Shetland Tourist Board because we so want to visit Shetland now after seeing her adventures on the island. Two nicer families you could not wish to meet, this wedding was a privilege to be a part of and writing this blog confirmed that it will always be up there with the very best weddings I’ve attended.
If you’d like to book me as your wedding photographer then get in touch as I get booked up quickly and am pretty much fully booked for 2018.
